Join us for our annual mystery quilt on Super Bowl Sunday February 5 from 10 to 5. Pick up your mystery quilt prep instructions before class. As in years past, this is a pot luck day. $20 plus pot luck dish.
UFO NIGHT
Need to finish that binding? Half-way into that quilt? Pick out a UFO (unfinished object) and join us on the second Saturday of the month. Have fun working on a project as we sew from 6 to 9 p.m. January 14 and February 11. $10 per session. Please note this is a free-style open sewing and not a formal class. If you are interested in 1-on-1 instruction, we will be happy to work with you for an additional fee. Please call to reserve your space.
Machine Embroidery Club
Meet with us monthly to work on a variety of machine embroidery projects. Get tips or learn more about what your embroidery machine can do. This month we will be starting a new Block of the Month -- Wildflowers from Smith Street Designs. Your choice of Wildflowers or Wildflowers II design CD. This is a machine embroidery appliqué quilt. See the sample hanging in the shop. Friday January 20 and February 17, 2 to 5 or 6 to 9. $15 per session. All types of machines welcome. Purchase of CD required for class.
APPLIQUE MINIATURE LANDSCAPES
We welcome back Maria Lage who will share some new patterns with us of her miniature landscape quilts. Learn to hand appliqué these beautiful scenes using Maria’s stress-free techniques. Saturday January 21, 10-4. $60 plus supplies. Patterns will be provided. Sign up early as this class fills fast.
BREEZY WEAVE BAG
Hot new technique back by popular demand. Using precut strips, weave this gorgeous bag and finish off with skinny handles. Learn the weaving technique, making tubes and adding magnetic snaps. Truly a designer bag. Saturday January 28 and February 4, 10:00-3:00. $50 plus supplies. Pattern required.
MAGIC STACK AND WHACK
Take one piece of fabric and turn it into kaleidoscopes for this truly “magic” technique. Guaranteed fun! The wilder (or uglier) the fabric, the better the outcome. Thursday, January 19, 1-6; Saturday February 11, 10-3. $35 plus supplies. Book required.
LOVER’S KNOT PLACEMATS
These easy to make placemats use two blocks to make up the Lover's Knot pattern and two borders. Placemats may be machine quilted for extra dimension. Lover's Knot placemats make a perfect gift for newlyweds or for a house warming. Book is also available for table runner and/or quilt if you prefer to make a larger project. Tuesday January 17, 1-4 or 6-9. $20 plus supplies. Book required.
IT’S A WRAP
Using clothesline as a base, wind, wrap, and sew fabric strips into fantastic containers. You will learn the technique by making a simple coiled trivet. You will then learn how to contour the base into basic container styles to create round, oval, square, and other shapes that can be transformed into purses, baskets, and bowls in an endless variety of sizes, shapes and colors. Saturday February 18, 1-4. $20 plus supplies.
CHENILLE SCARF
Start by cutting strips of fabric on the bias, layer, stitch and slice to make a soft chenille scarf. Friday January 27, 10-3. $25 plus supplies.
DAY AND NIGHT TABLE RUNNER
Day & Night will mystify, enchant, and entertain you! It is magical! No smoke and mirrors: the technique is just totally awesome! The pattern is made from strips! The illusion is created by using the acrylic template, included in the back of the book which offers variations on making a quilt with two or three contrasting colors. By using 3 or 4 fabric strips the blocks take on a whole new look! Thursday February 2, 1-6 or Saturday February 25, 10-3. $35 plus supplies. Book required.
WEAVER FEVER
Get this great bargello look by making blocks. The blocks are made from straightforward strip sets that are subcut for the blocks. This is an intermediate level quilt. Tuesday February 7 and 14, 1-4 or 6-9. $35 plus supplies. Book required.
BEGINNER QUILTING
We offer beginner quilting classes randomly throughout the year. We can work with you to meet your scheduling requests. Learn basic techniques including fabric selection, rotary cutting, accurate piecing methods and finishing your quilts during each program. $15 per session.
